To better represent each unit鈥檚 breadth of programs, disciplines and departments, the Schools of Business; Letters, Arts and Sciences; and Professional Studies became colleges. At the same time, the Department of Teacher Education became the School of Education.
鈥尯=巧缜 made these modifications in its academic structure effective on July 1, 2014, 聽to better serve students as they pursued majors based in a broad array of programs, disciplines and departments.
鈥屸淲e see this as a great opportunity for our colleges to be more visible to our external communities and to our students,鈥 said Vicki Golich, provost and vice president for academic and student affairs. 鈥淚t will provide a greater focus on the educational mission of each unit, allowing us to attract high-quality faculty and staff and serve our diverse student population.鈥
The University community agreed. A Universitywide survey resoundingly supported the transition of the three existing schools into colleges.
As part of the restructuring, the Teacher Education Department also became the School of Education, which was one of the recommended outcomes of the $1.88 million Title III federal grant 海角社区 received in 2010.
