Conduct an Informational Interview
Informational interviews are a great way to build your professional network, learn more about a company, and learn about specific jobs that people hold within the company. It is an informal way to learn more about topics such as:
- how the person got their job;
- whether you like a job or not;
- whether or not you like the company; and
- what questions to ask during an interview with the company.
These types of interviews are generally a short (20-30 minute) conversation, and can be completed over the phone, virtually, or in person. Conducting informational interviews with a variety of people can be a great way to learn about your career path with a specific company or within your chosen industry; think about asking people at different levels in the field you are curious about gaining more information.
