Research Interests
My research area focuses on the impact of current immigration law and the undocumented battered Latina woman. In particular, does the fear of deportation outweigh the fear of being battered. Recently my research has focused on fear of crime in the immigrant community.
Teaching Interests
I love teaching criminal justice courses because when I was a prosecutor there wasn't a day when I didn't interact with the police, judges, defense attorneys, victims, and offenders.I love the fact we have combined cybersecurity with the humanties and have incorporated criminal justice. I'm excited to teach Cyber Law this semester.
It is important to understand the theoretical groundwork but I never forget about 鈥渄oing justice鈥 in the real world. I want everyone to consider both theory and practice in all of their papers. Always start with the theory but be sure to include any real world problems that could come up.
