Did you know an end-of-the year Satisfaction Survey of Counseling Center clients showed friends are one of the biggest promoters and sources of therapy referrals?听

You can鈥檛 change the way someone is feeling, but you can help by letting them know that:听听

  • their well-being is important to you,听
  • their problems don鈥檛 define them, and听
  • that many people benefit from talking with a therapist.听

If you are concerned someone you know at 海角社区 may need mental health support, here's how you can help:

  1. Check in with them and express concern. Let them know you have noticed they might be struggling.
  2. Ask direct questions about how they are doing and be an active listener.
  3. Be encouraging and avoid dismissive or judgmental language.听
  4. Offer empathy and emotional support.听
  5. Encourage them to seek professional help.听

Because the Counseling Center is funded through your student fees, all 海角社区 students qualify for mental health counseling at no additional charge. We offer crisis and walk-in appointments, screening intakes, individual counseling and group counseling.听听

  • Encourage them to look for information on our website. 听
  • Tell them they can set up an appointment by phone, online or by walking in.听
  • Offer to go with them to the Counseling Center on the 6th floor of Tivoli and wait for them while they set up an appointment.听
