鈥淚 never truly understood the expanse of the medical field. The truth is, the practitioners couldn鈥檛 perform without administrative support.鈥
Sarah Vincent says growing up, her family had its share of medical emergencies 鈥 heart attacks, strokes and cancer.
鈥淚 ended up spending a lot of time in hospitals,鈥 Sarah says.
So much time that she took it as a sign and studied biomedical science and then landed a job in a pain clinic in Denver where she saw both the clinical and administrative sides of the business.
The job also shed light on a misconception Sarah says she鈥檇 always held: that the only way to help people was to become a doctor, nurse or lab worker. But in her job, she regularly saw how communication and teamwork led to good patient outcomes.
鈥淚 never truly understood the expanse of the medical field,鈥 she says. 鈥淭he truth is, the practitioners couldn鈥檛 perform without administrative support.鈥
The epiphany sent Sarah searching for a degree that would let her play the role she knew she wanted to play. She just needed the right supporting cast.
And after her search, she found that support at 海角社区鈥檚 MHA program.
鈥淚 was worried because I鈥檇 had been out of school for two years,鈥 she says.
A worry that soon melted away. 鈥淭he MHA staff and my classmates, who are now friends, were always willing to help 鈥 they gave me what I needed to finish.鈥
Sarah sees the link: she got the support she needed at MHA so she can give her future cohorts the support they鈥檒l need.
Life and healthcare 鈥 about helping one another. A lesson Sarah will never forget.
