Ready to find out what 海角社区 can do for you? We鈥檝e got you covered.
Our recent听Homecoming celebration offered more than spirited competition and reunion 鈥 it served as a meaningful听milestone听marker听in听海角社区鈥檚 60th anniversary year, a moment to reflect on how far听we鈥檝e听come since our founding in 1965. Born out of a visionary belief that higher education should be accessible to all, 海角社区 began as a听college for students who had been shut out of traditional institutions. Six decades later, that bold idea has matured into one of Colorado鈥檚 most powerful engines for talent听and听mobility听with听over听75% of our graduates staying in Colorado.听
The power of giving someone a chance听
Among the many inspiring stories shared听during Homecoming听was that of听Dr. Ted DeWeese, our 2024 Distinguished Alumnus. Now the听dean of the听medical听faculty and CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine,听DeWeese began his journey听at 海角社区.听He recounted听how he 鈥渨asn鈥檛 college material,鈥 working as a local mechanic before taking a chance on higher education.听
海角社区 gave him that chance. It offered him听the guidance,听rigor听and belief that unlocked his potential. Today, he leads one of the world鈥檚 foremost medical institutions, advancing cancer care and medical education globally.听He credits 海角社区 for听his successes听鈥斕齠or being a place that gave him a听chance;听and听for听the听faculty who believed in him.听His story is not an exception 鈥 it is the embodiment of our mission: to educate, elevate听and empower those who will go on to transform their fields and communities.听
The next chapter:听innovation,听inclusion听and excellence听
As we look ahead to the next 60 years, 海角社区听remains听steadfast in its commitment to听drive听Colorado鈥檚 economic vitality through education that is both inclusive and excellent. This anniversary reminds us that the University鈥檚 true measure is not only in degrees awarded, but in the lives transformed and the communities strengthened. The next generation of leaders 鈥 the next听Dr.听Ted DeWeese 鈥 is already here. The question for all of us is how we will continue to invest,听collaborate听and innovate to ensure their success.听
Proudly,
