The Shared Governance Council was created to enhance transparency across the university by clarifying how shared governance is practiced. Its purpose is to educate faculty, students, staff, and administrators on the shared governance process and to guide the appropriate entry points for initiatives aimed at driving change. The council promotes inclusive, informed, and collaborative decision-making by fostering a deeper understanding of shared governance and ensuring that initiatives are directed to the right decision-making channels.

What We Do:

• Review Initiatives: Evaluate new and ongoing initiatives to ensure they are assigned to the appropriate Shared Governance groups or recommend the establishment of a task force when needed.Ìý
• Support Campus Governance Groups: Serve as a resource for existing Shared Governance groups across campus, providing guidance and best practices.Ìý
• Promote Shared Governance Education: Offer education and resources to departments or colleges interested in building or refining their own Shared Governance groups or processes.Ìý
• Facilitate Collaboration: Foster communication and collaboration between governance groups to enhance decision-making and alignment with institutional goals.
