Headshot of Brad Palmertree

Biography

Brad A. Palmertree, MSW teaches courses in macro practice, leadership, and social policy. With nearly two decades of experience in community organizing, policy advocacy, and nonprofit leadership, Brad brings real-world expertise at the intersection of policy and practice into the classroom.

Brad’s teaching approach is rooted in his belief that the best learning happens when people feel truly seen, heard, and valued. His teaching approach combines bell hooks’s radical love, adrienne maree brown’s emergent strategy, Brené Brown’s authentic leadership, and Paulo Freire’s popular education principles to create transformative learning environments.

Beyond the classroom, Brad applies this same philosophy through his consulting practice focused on strategic planning and organizational development for mission-driven organizations. Whether facilitating a strategic planning retreat or watching a student have a breakthrough about systems change, the core work remains the same: helping individuals and groups unlock their collective power to create meaningful change.

Brad holds an MSW from the University of Michigan with a concentration in Community Organizations and lives in Denver, Colorado, where you might find him exploring trails, listening to NPR, or enjoying the company of his cat, Isabella, who graciously allows him to cohabitate in her house and serves as his unofficial co-facilitator during virtual classes.
