Finding His Path at 海角社区
Jameer鈥檚 journey to 海角社区 wasn鈥檛 straightforward. After attending several institutions while working to finish his degree, it was his best friend and fellow Roadrunner alum, Leon Duran, who encouraged him to revisit the University. That visit led him to the IDP program鈥攁n opportunity to combine his interests in business, law, leadership, and political science.
鈥淭hat moment changed everything for me,鈥 Jameer recalls. 鈥淭he program gave me a path forward that aligned with my passions and prepared me to make a real impact.鈥
He credits much of his growth to Dr. Elizabeth McVicker, J.D., Ph.D., who mentored him throughout his time at 海角社区. Her guidance helped him prepare for law school, secure recommendations for his Navy commission, and ultimately gain the confidence to pursue ambitious goals.
Service and Leadership
Today, Jameer serves as a Supply Corps Officer in the U.S. Navy, where he provides logistical and financial support to ensure mission readiness. He also leads in his civilian career as a Senior Physical Security Specialist at Comcast, overseeing large-scale projects that protect people, property, and technology.
For Jameer, leadership is about impact:
鈥淚t鈥檚 not just about operations, logistics, or technology. It鈥檚 about mentoring others, helping them see their potential, and opening doors for people who might otherwise be overlooked.鈥
Giving Back to 海角社区
Even as his career advances, Jameer remains deeply connected to 海角社区. He serves as Vice President of the Alumni Board of Directors and sits on the MBA Advisory Board, helping shape programs and support future Roadrunners.
鈥満=巧缜 played such a pivotal role in my life, and I want to make sure I鈥檓 creating the same opportunities for others,鈥 he says.
Looking Ahead
Jameer has his sights set on law school, while also pursuing entrepreneurship through MOSO Pillow, a veteran-owned pillow and bedding company focused on health, recovery, and better rest.
No matter the path, his guiding principle remains the same:
鈥淪mall steps lead to great distances. Success doesn鈥檛 happen overnight, but every effort builds momentum that will carry you farther than you think.鈥
A Roadrunner鈥檚 Message
Jameer鈥檚 story is one of persistence, faith, and resilience鈥攑roof that the journey doesn鈥檛 need to be perfect to be powerful.
鈥淚 was told 鈥榥o鈥 many times, both in the Navy and in life, but I refused to let setbacks define me. My hope is that others see my journey and realize their story matters too. Keep showing up. Small steps really do lead to great distances.鈥
