Summer Session

Summer semester is right around the corner. Did you know that financial aid may be available to you this Summer?

To receive the best aid package for the summer, please complete the following by May 1st:

  • Enroll at least half-time (6 credits for undergraduate 3 credits for graduate students) for summer.
  • Have a complete 2025-2026 FAFSA or CASFA on file with the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
  • Have a complete financial aid file.
  • Be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (ie: not on Financial Aid Suspension).

Summer is considered the last term within the aid year; therefore, financial aid eligibility will be based upon funds that are remaining with your financial aid file.

Official Summer Financial Aid Awards: We will begin sending official summer email award notifications the end of April to students who have summer enrollment and a FAFSA or CASFA on file. If you decide not to attend the summer semester, it is your responsibility to drop all classes before the appropriate deadlines to avoid charges. You are solely responsible for dropping your classes before the university’s deadlines. Please be sure to view the Summer 2026 deadlines on the .

Priority Consideration: Students who meet the above requirements by May 1st will receive the most consideration for state and MSU financial aid, but students who do so after this deadline may only be considered for their remaining Federal Pell Grant and Direct Loan eligibility.
