Summer semester is right around the corner. Did you know that financial aid may be available to you this Summer?
To receive the best aid package for the summer, please complete the following by May 1st:
Summer is considered the last term within the aid year; therefore, financial aid eligibility will be based upon funds that are remaining with your financial aid file.
Official Summer Financial Aid Awards: We will begin sending official summer email award notifications the end of April to students who have summer enrollment and a FAFSA or CASFA on file. If you decide not to attend the summer semester, it is your responsibility to drop all classes before the appropriate deadlines to avoid charges. You are solely responsible for dropping your classes before the university’s deadlines. Please be sure to view the Summer 2026 deadlines on the .
Priority Consideration: Students who meet the above requirements by May 1st will receive the most consideration for state and MSU financial aid, but students who do so after this deadline may only be considered for their remaining Federal Pell Grant and Direct Loan eligibility.
Year-round Pell allows students to receive up to 150% of a regular grant award over the course of the academic year so that they can continue taking classes in the summer and finish their degrees faster than they would otherwise. Summer usage also goes toward the 600% lifetime eligibility used (LEU).
Funding is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible undergraduate students with a complete financial aid file. Students who have a 2025-2026 FAFSA filed must be a Colorado resident as well as U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. Students who only file the CASFA must be a Colorado resident and approved for ASSET. To qualify, your student aid index (SAI) must be 2000 or less.
Students who are eligible for Roadrunner promise must have their 2025-2026 FAFSA/CASFA filed by April 1st and have all financial aid requirements completed by June 16th. Please review the Roadrunner Promise website for details.
These funds will be awarded and disbursed by June 25, 2026.
Students who are eligible for INPG must have their 2025-2026 FAFSA/CAFSA and INPG application completed by April 1st as well as a complete financial aid file by May 1st. Please review the INPG website for details.
These funds will be awarded and disbursed by June 25, 2026.
Work Study funds will be prioritized to students who have earned in the Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 semesters. To be awarded, students will need to be enrolled in Summer 2026.
For those who are not planning to enroll in Summer 2026 but will continue in Fall 2026, our office will need you to complete the Summer Work-Study Form (WKSUM) to provide us with your intent to be registered in at least half-time for Fall 2026. You can find the WKSUM on the Work Study website.
To maintain your summer work study eligibility, you must also have a 2026-2027 FAFSA on file with º£½ÇÉçÇø by no later than July 1, 2026.
Students may be eligible to receive any unused Federal Direct Loans, if they are still within their federal annual limits after Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. If you did not borrow the maximum Direct loan amount during the 2025-2026 award year or had a grade level change (for example, from Freshman to Sophomore), you may have additional Direct Loan eligibility for the summer semester if enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours as an undergraduate and 3 credit hours as a graduate student).
You can view annual loan limits on our Debt Management Page.
