Spanning 10 academic departments, students learn alongside experts both in and out of the classroom, modeling the interdisciplinary needs of today鈥檚 in-demand healthcare industry.听听
And at the center is access, for individuals and communities to change what health and wellness looks like.

Sponsored health-scholar cohort programs support underrepresented students pursuing health career fields as the Health Institute prepares employers to attract and retain diverse staff.
Our Programs
Colorado Access Health Career Pipeline Program
Funded by the Colorado Access Foundation, 海角社区 and the Community College of Aurora have partnered up to support students interested in pursing a career in the health care field.
- Benefits of the program include:
- Extensive Life Design Advising
- Dedicated university course that focuses on career planning, financial wellness, social capital and health equity
- Community with other future healthcare professionals
- Scholarship awards of up to $5,000 for 海角社区 students and Stipends up to $3,000 for CCA Students
Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment鈥檚 Practice-based Health Education Grant Program
Funded by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, this program serves 海角社区 students in Nursing, Paramedicine, lactation program and graduate students in mental/behavioral Health. Additionally, students at the Community College of Denver who are in a health or allied health program are eligible to participate in this program. Student in the program receive a $5,000 stipend, extensive life design advising, professional development, academic and career support, and community with other future healthcare professionals
Health Careers Opportunity Program听
The program provides scholarships and stipends, training in cultural responsiveness and emerging health issues, job shadowing and mentoring, and proactive听 advising to undocumented undergraduate students from disadvantaged backgrounds interested]in healthcare careers, preparing them to successfully transition from classroom to workforce.
The Healthcare Interest Program (HIP) is a Denver Health pathway program that works to increase the success of college students seeking careers in healthcare. HIP supports the academic and professional development needs of its students through a combined approach including mentorship experiences, lectures, and workshops. HIP will expose participants to Denver Health Medical Center, an urban safety-net hospital that primarily serves under-resourced populations in Denver County. The program is specifically tailored to students with a connection to the mission of Denver Health and an intention to serve under-resourced communities.
The Peer Health Education (PHE) involves 海角社区 students teaching a skills-based health curriculum in under-resourced high schools throughout Denver.
Both teacher and students become equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to make healthy decisions and to address healthcare disparities within our local communities.
Simulation, Skills Lab, and IPE space
海角社区 embarked on an ambitious project to establish the Gina and Frank Day Health Institute Interprofessional Education Simulation and Skills Labs. The cutting-edge space offers students and professionals a safe place to come together to learn. For information related to these spaces click here.
What is Interprofessional Education (IPE)?
Interprofessional Education occurs when 鈥渟tudents from two or more professions learn about, from, and with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes. Once students understand how to work interprofessionally, they are ready to enter the workplace as a member of the collaborative practice team. This is a key step in moving health systems from fragmentation to a position of strength鈥� (World Health Organization, 2010, p1).
