If you have completed more than 60 credits (you are a junior or senior) or are earning a minor in marketing or advertising and promotions, we encourage you to meet with any . You can schedule a meeting , or email the faculty member directly.

Faculty can help you learn more about career paths in the field, which marketing elective classes will prepare you for your area of interest, and of course also help you ensure you meet the class requirements needed for graduation.听

If you are interested in a Sales-related program (major, certificate, or minor), please work with our Center for Professional Selling faculty.

We recommend meeting with your advisor a minimum of once per year; you can reach out each semester if you have questions or other advising needs.

Marketing electives can be fulfilled with any MKT class that is numbered 3000+ (that is not already required).听 We strongly recommend , and you can earn marketing elective credit that way as well.听 听

Also, keep in mind that if you are a marketing major and you鈥檇 like to complete , the courses you take can 鈥渄ouble dip鈥� – count towards both the major and the certificate.听

For marketing minors, you can fulfill one of your two electives with a lower-division course: MKT 2010 Marketing around the Globe, MKT 1260 Customer Service, or MKT 2250 Introduction to Sales.听

Yes! Classes taken for the major can also meet a certificate requirement鈥攎eaning that you can 鈥渄ouble dip.鈥�

For example, you could take MKT 3250 Personal Selling as one of your marketing electives, and that can also count towards the Sales Certificate.

When you take the required MKT 3310 Consumer Behavior class, this also counts towards the Digital Marketing Certificate.听

No, your major and minor cannot be in the same department. If you are majoring in Marketing or Professional Selling, then a certificate is an option for earning and showing your expertise in a particular area (Professional Selling or Digital Marketing).听

Yes! With a recent change in the curriculum policies, you can now fulfill the Global Diversity Requirement with a class in your major department.听

For marketing majors, taking MKT 2010 is a great way to get into marketing content earlier in your degree while fulfilling a general studies requirement.听

Note: if you鈥檙e already on track to graduate with more than 120 credits and trying to minimize the total number of courses taken, it might make more sense to fulfill this requirement with a class that also meets another general studies requirement (Arts and Humanities, History, or Natural and Physical Sciences). Work with your advisor.

If you want to use MKT 2010 to meet this requirement, we will need to process a degree exception. Contact Donelyn Jones for help with this.听

For marketing minors, MKT 2010 can fulfill the Global Diversity Requirement and can count as one of your two marketing electives. (Your other elective must be upper-division with a number above 3000.)

Yes! It fulfills that graduation requirement and also counts as a major elective in Marketing鈥攁nd it鈥檚 a required class for the Professional Selling Major. In other words, you can double count the class as meeting a major requirement and the Multicultural Graduation Requirement.听

It also counts as an elective in our minors in Marketing, Advertising and Promotion, and Sales鈥攁nd in the Sales Certificate.听

It does not count toward the Digital Marketing Minor or Digital Marketing Certificate. You can still take it to meet your Multicultural Graduation Requirement, though.听
