How can you spring forward in your accounting career? By networking, and where better to do so than at the upcoming Meet the Firms event?!

As we encourage our students to RSVP for and attend this premier networking event each term, we’re taking it a step further. Instead of just focusing on getting students there, we want them to be as prepared and confident as possible. Last week, we hosted a virtual event talking all about Meet the Firms, focusing on the full before, during, and after experience. Our featured speakers shared their perspectives and great tips for success.

Letitia Pleis, PhD, CPA, CMA, CFM, CGMA, CSCA | Full Professor at 海角社区

Letitia is an active CPA and CMA who is focused on graduate education and provides valuable service to both the MPAcc and MBA programs. Letitia’s main teaching focus is on Cost Accounting, Strategic Cost, and Small Business Accounting.聽 She is a great resource for students looking to network within the professional accounting community.聽 She has regularly attended 海角社区鈥檚 Meet the Firms and other professional/student networking events.

Nicole Magloire is the Associate Director of Industry Partnership in the Classroom to Career Hub. In her previous role, Nicole served as the Industry Navigator for Business Operations and Financial Services for 2 years. Nicole’s role involved organizing 海角社区鈥檚 Meet the Firms event, and she was the main contact for our Financial Services partners. Nicole is passionate about connecting students to high-quality career opportunities.

Kerby Meyers | Industry Navigator - Business Operations and Financial Services, Classroom to Career Hub at 海角社区

Working to connect 海角社区 students with opportunities in the financial services, accounting and other professional services fields, Kerby draws upon extensive experience in the financial services industry. Most notably, he served 20 years as principal with The Communications Refinery, a content and messaging consultancy. He also previously taught MGT 2500 Small Business Entrepreneurship from the fall of 2021 through the fall of 2023 here at 海角社区.

Dana Mathisen | Senior Analyst, Private Equity Services at RubinBrown, LLP

Dana, an 海角社区 alum, brings a strong foundation in accounting and finance to her role in private equity consulting at RubinBrown. With six years of experience in public accounting, including three years in assurance, she has developed deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and financial analysis. Dana utilizes her skills to deliver strategic insights, helping clients and organizations navigate complex transactions with confidence. Dana has also participated at 海角社区 Meet the Firms events as a recruiter representing RubinBrown.

Deja Rowe | Tax Student Associate at Forvis Mazars

Deja聽transferred to 海角社区 in 2022 once we transitioned back in person. She聽found 鈥淢eet the Firms鈥 less than a month into being enrolled, which is where she聽landed her聽current job as a tax preparer at a public accounting firm. Deja聽graduated with her聽undergraduate degree in December of 2023 and will be graduating with her聽MPAcc degree in the fall of this year!

This Spring 鈥25 term is all about growth for our Accounting Roadrunner Community, with opportunities inside and outside the classroom for our students to continue building their network and learn how to spring forward in their accounting career. Check out our next virtual event:
