Why Start Online as an Exploratory Student at º£½ÇÉçÇø

The walk across the stage starts with one class. We’re here to help with the rest.

A Real Start, With Room to Choose

You don’t have to know where you’re headed to start moving. As an Online Exploratory student you take real º£½ÇÉçÇø classes, earn real credit, and spend your first stretch of college learning what you actually want to study.

General Studies courses fulfill requirements every º£½ÇÉçÇø degree shares, and exploratory courses across departments let you try out fields you’re curious about. When you declare, your work comes with you.

º£½ÇÉçÇø has more than 30 online majors, and you can finish in person if that’s where you land. Plenty of students start online and choose an on-campus major along the way. Your credit moves with you either way.

People Who Help You Find Your Fit

You won’t be doing this alone. Two teams work with Exploratory students from your first semester until the day you declare.

The Exploratory Advising team specializes in helping students choose a major. They meet over Teams, use a free strengths assessment called MCODES to help you sort out what you’re drawn to, and walk you through Major Exploration Guides that group º£½ÇÉçÇø’s programs into themes like business, health, STEM, design, and social impact. You leave each appointment with a clearer head and a plan for next semester.

Your Online Success Coach handles the rest. Scheduling, tech questions, balancing school with work, knowing which campus office to call when something comes up. You’ll meet yours early and they stay with you.

You don't need a major to start. Pick a theme that interests you and sample the online options.

If a single theme doesn’t capture what you’re after, you can mix across them. Many Exploratory students do.

Business Leadership and Management

How organizations run, decide, and grow.

Health, Human Behavior and Allied Professions

People, care, and the systems behind both.

Society, Identity and Justice

How communities work and how to make them better.

Design, Creativity, Media and Performance

Telling stories, building things, and shaping how people learn.

Language, Culture and Meaning

How people communicate and what it tells us about each other.

STEM, Aviation and Math

Technical fields where systems thinking pays off.

Don't See Your Path? Design It.

If your interests cross fields in a way no single major captures, º£½ÇÉçÇø’s Online Individualized Degree Program lets you build one. You work with a specialist and faculty advisor to design a focused, interdisciplinary degree plan, then earn a B.A. or B.S. on the path you mapped.

IDP isn’t automatic. You apply, propose your plan, and get it approved. It’s a great fit for students who explore for a semester or two and realize their direction lives between disciplines.
