These transformative projects听will听benefit听our students听and, as they succeed,听strengthen Colorado鈥檚听workforce, expand听generational听access to听opportunity听and fuel our state鈥檚 economy.听
A听historic听first:听海角社区听student听housing听
This听month, we broke ground on听Summit House,听MSU听Denver鈥檚 first student-residence hall听and听a milestone in our history. Located next to the Tivoli Garage, the 12-story building will听feature听modern living,听dining听and retail,听plus听a dedicated floor for听our听Classroom to Career Hub.听Integrating career听exploration and industry partnerships听into daily life听will听connect听Roadrunners听to internships and jobs that听serve听Colorado鈥檚 workforce.听Opening听in听fall听2027,听Summit House听will reduce housing insecurity, improve听retention听and make 海角社区 more accessible to students across the state鈥攑roducing more graduates who live,听work听and contribute to Colorado鈥檚 economy.听听
The Gina and Frank Day Health Institute听Tower听
Connecting to the听south side of听West Classroom, the听new听Day听Health Institute听Tower听will unite听10 health-related听departments under one roof.听Breaking听ground听early next year,听the five-story听building听will expand enrollment, create new pathways into high-demand health听careers听and help address Colorado鈥檚 critical shortage of trained professionals. This hub听will prepare the next generation of听health听care听leaders while advancing community well-being and statewide economic resilience.听
Reimagining听campus听spaces听
The听long-dormant aquatics facility听in the Auraria Events Center听is undergoing renovation and will听reopen as听a听fully accessible 500-seat venue听for gatherings,听performances听and听conferences.听Beyond听enriching听campus听life听by听providing听additional听space for听classes,听athletics,听recreation听and听University events, it听will attract statewide听conferences and听events听and听generate听revenue听for听海角社区.听
Other projects across campus include a new听Campus Safety Center,听which will house听classroom and meeting space for听criminal-justice programs in all three Auraria institutions of higher education听alongside听new and improved听spaces for听the听Auraria听Campus Police Department.听The听Workforce Housing and Early Learning Center听(2027),听will听be听located听next door to听Summit House听and will听address听housing and听child听care听needs for听Auraria听employees, adult听students听and听Colorado families. Finally, the听5th Street Garage Department of Revenue renovation听(through October),听will make听better use of shared space and听improved听public services听for听our community.听
