The Montgomery GI Bill庐 Active Duty (MGIB-AD) can help you pay for education and training programs. If you鈥檝e served at least two years on active duty, you may qualify for the MGIB-AD program.聽.

How will I receive my benefit?
Chapter 30 students are eligible to receive monthly stipends based on their Rate of Pursuit (1/4, 1/2, 3/4 or full time) during their enrollment periods. Payments are received at the end of each month and are prorated based on the number of days attended.
Does the VA pay my tuition to 海角社区?
No, the VA will send you the entitlement you are eligible to receive. This is meant for you to pay your tuition and/or assist you with your education-related costs.
The Montgomery GI Bill庐 Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR) program offers up to 36 months of education and training benefits. You may be eligible for this benefit if you鈥檙e a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard Reserve; Army National Guard; or Air National Guard.聽.

Can I use other education benefits besides the Reserve GI Bill庐?
Yes. We highly encourage students to fill out their聽聽and apply for other funds such as scholarships to help them pay for their tuition and educational expenses. Additionally, using state funds/benefits does not conflict with your federal VA education benefits.
The Department of Defense (DoD) Tuition Assistance (TA) program provides financial assistance to service members for voluntary off-duty education programs in support of professional and personal self-development goals. TA is available for courses that are offered in the classroom or by distance learning and are part of an approved academic degree or certificate program.
TA Funds are a unique, distinct source of financial aid available to eligible service members. TA will be the first payer of tuition charged to the student (this means TA pays first and the student is liable for any remaining costs related to tuition and fees by paying out of pocket or by using other means of financial aid).
In general, eligible active duty service members can receive TA at a rate of $250 per semester hour cap with an annual ceiling of $4,500. The services are authorized to establish service-specific eligibility criteria to manage TA funds.聽TA policies and procedures are specific to each branch.
Eligible service members must receive approval from an Educational Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within the military service prior to enrolling.

The Post-9/11 GI Bill庐 helps you pay for school or job training. If you鈥檝e served on active duty after September 10, 2001, you may qualify for the Post-9/11 GI Bill庐.聽.

How will I receive this benefit?
Chapter 33 students are eligible to receive three main education benefits each enrollment period they use their benefits:
- Tuition Payment:聽The VA will cover up to 100% of your in-state tuition and fees associated to courses required for your degree plan.
- Book Stipend:聽The VA will award students a book stipend each semester they are enrolled. The book stipend is limited to $1,000.00 each year.
- Housing Stipend:聽Students enrolled more than 1/2 time (51% or more) are eligible to receive a housing stipend.
Tuition payment information
海角社区 will report 100% of your in-state tuition costs to the VA. The VA will cover the percentage you have been awarded (this can be found on your COE). For example, if your tuition and fees for a semester are $2,600.00 and you were awarded Chapter 33 benefits at 60%, the VA should pay 海角社区 $1,560.00. The remaining tuition balance is the student’s responsibility.
Book stipend information
The VA awards recipients of Chapter 33 benefits a book stipend each semester they use their benefits. Students will receive approximately $41.67 per credit hour; the yearly amount cannot exceed $1,000.00. This also depends on your award percentage.
What is the monthly housing allowance (MHA) rate?
Your MHA is the same as the monthly military Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) for an E-5 with dependents. It may vary based on these factors:

How will I receive this benefit?
Chapter 31 students are eligible to receive three main education benefits each enrollment period they use their benefits:
- Tuition Payment: Your VR&E counselor will provide you with a Tuition Purchase Order number (PO#) which the Bursars office will use to bill your tuition and fees associated to courses required for your degree plan.
- Book Voucher: Your VR&E counselor will provide you with a Books Purchase Order number (PO#) to use at the 海角社区 Bookstore to purchase your course required books.
- Housing Stipend: Students enrolled 1/2 time or more (50% or more) are eligible to receive a housing/sustenance stipend (this varies case by case and can be further explained by your VR&E counselor).

Tuition payment information
海角社区 will report 100% of your in-state tuition costs to VR&E. Any courses that are not part of your degree plan cannot certified or billed to VR&E.
Book voucher information
Your VR&E counselor will provide you with a PO# specific to 海角社区’s bookstore. This PO# will be used similar to a voucher for the purchase of your school materials. Click to find your books for the semester.
Monthly housing allowance information
Students with a Rate of Pursuit (RoP) equal to or greater than 50% may be eligible for MHA every month they they are enrolled in courses. The MHA rate is equivalent to the BAH rate of an E-5 with dependents for the school’s zip code when taking in-person courses.
