When the Metropolitan State University of Denver launched last year, Rebecca Trammell, Ph.D., and Karen Meyer saw the perfect opportunity to show their admiration and gratitude for friend and colleague Kathy Heyl.¹

鈥淥ur relationship with Kathy has grown through years of seeing her hard work and dedication to this University,鈥� said Trammell. 鈥淲e wanted to give something that would last beyond a semester or a thank-you card; the brick will be on campus for years to come.鈥�

, you, too, can make your mark on the 海角社区 community with a personalized commemorative brick honoring a friend, graduate, loved one or treasured memory.鈥疊ut don鈥檛 wait 鈥� brick orders close Sept. 18, 2026.

Bricks will be installed outside Summit House, a new campus building that includes the University鈥檚 first student housing and the , opening in 2027.

Trammell and Meyer said that the brick pays tribute to the people who have dedicated themselves to laying the University鈥檚 foundation. And by making their gift during the Roadrunners Rise Campaign, they can give back to the students Heyl has spent her life serving.

鈥淎s someone who shows up every day to help students succeed, supporting the campaign felt like a natural extension of everything Kathy stands for,鈥� said Meyer.

鈥淲e are investing in the University and the students who will come after her.鈥�
