Megan Steelman serves as the Graduate Admissions and Advising Coordinator in the Department of Nutrition at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she supports students in the Lactation and Coordinated Programs, as well as graduate and accelerated students in the master’s program, as they navigate admissions, academic planning, and their next steps toward meaningful professional goals. She brings more than 10 years of experience supporting students in higher education and is especially drawn to graduate-level advising, where students have the opportunity to pursue work that reflects their lived experiences, evolving interests, and sense of purpose.
Megan earned her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin–Parkside and her M.A. from the University of Denver. Her academic interests include student development, access, and equity in education, the sociology of education, and social justice. She is also interested in the intersections of organizational change, music, culture, identity, and society.
At the center of Megan’s work is a belief that education can create space for people to reconsider what they want from their lives and careers. She particularly enjoys working with graduate students who are changing directions, advancing previous experiences, or pursuing a path that feels more aligned with who they have become.
