Melissa Masters, PhD, RDN

Biography

 

Melissa Masters, PhD, RDN is a Professor in the Department of Nutrition at Metropolitan State University of Denver. She has been educating and mentoring students since 2014. With more than 15 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Masters is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who holds a doctoral degree in Nutrition and a master’s degree in Nutrition and Health Sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Prior to joining º£½ÇÉçÇø, she taught at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, and gained valuable professional experience in the wellness industry.

Her research interests have spanned a variety of nutrition and health topics, including analyses of NHANES data, dietary intake and nutrition knowledge among backpackers, body composition changes during extended backcountry expeditions, and nutrition-related aspects of Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), formerly known as PCOS. Her current and future research efforts primarily focus on PMOS, with continued interest in sports nutrition research.

Over the past five years, Dr. Masters has contributed significantly to the field through scholarly collaboration, serving as a co-author on 22 peer-reviewed conference presentations and three peer-reviewed publications. Her work reflects a commitment to advancing nutrition science while fostering student engagement and professional development.
