Would you like Rowdy to participate in your event? Our office will be taking requests for Rowdy to appear at university, department, student organization and off-campus events. There is no better way to show Roadrunner spirit than to have our beloved Rowdy interacting with your audience.

Rowdy鈥檚 friendly fa莽ade is perfect for close encounters with students where a rallying icon is needed. Rowdy is able to interact with guests, pull silly pranks, dress appropriately for the event (e.g. wearing his 海角社区 jersey or t-shirt) and be a comic relief for the guests and program directors.

Important FAQs for Rowdy
Rowdy has been our beloved mascot since the early ’70s and has served the university with distinction.听Rowdy is non-verbal, a bundle of energy and also truly loves 海角社区!
Not all event appearance requests are a guarantee.
- Sporting events and games (where Rowdy has room to maneuver)
- Homecoming events or other campus traditions
- Convocation, Fall Fest and other student social events
- Parades (a vehicle would need to be available for Rowdy)
- Major events for individual departments and schools
Rowdy鈥檚 limitations include small areas, such as banquets or dinners where there is not enough space to maneuver. However, if there is a prepared photo booth or something similar, Rowdy can make an appearance before or after the main program. Rowdy does not operate well outdoors on hot days, as he will require frequent breaks, and therefore, may not be able to attend such an event.
Event requests should be made at least 2 weeks before event date, but the earlier the better!

海角社区 Mascot History: From Mustang to Roadrunner
When 海角社区 was founded, the mustang was chosen as its mascot. However, since the students had to run between numerous buildings scattered across downtown Denver to get to their classes, they took a vote and decided the roadrunner would be a more appropriate and meaningful mascot in 1974.
Over the ensuing decades, the roadrunner, later named Rowdy, went through a number of makeovers until its most recent incarnation in 2010.
