The Office of Student Intervention Services (SIS) at 海角社区 engages with students that have an overall GPA below a 2.00. Our staff and advising professionals manages the through sending out informational notifications to students and providing helpful trainings for faculty and staff.
We offer the following services:
- Communicating policy and registration notifications to students on Academic Notice, Academic Recovery, and Academic Suspension standing via their 海角社区 email.
- Advising students about their academic standing, next steps for registration eligibility, and resources to help them improve their overall GPA.
- Providing helpful trainings to faculty and staff about the 海角社区 Academic Standing Policy and academic intervention.
Academic Standing & Financial Aid Status are Different...
Watch out for the Differences Between Academic Standing & Financial Aid Status
Please keep in mind that the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships also uses similar terms for their federally mandated financial aid status, specifically Financial Aid Suspension or SAP status (click on the 鈥楽atisfactory Academic Progress鈥� link at the top the webpage for more information).

Quick Guide to 海角社区's Academic Standing Policy
A Student is in Good Academic Standing if they maintain a overall GPA of 2.00 or higher.
Academic Notice Standing Definition
- When a student overall GPA drops below an overall 2.0o GPA, they will be placed on Academic Notice standing with the university during their next semester.
- A student on Academic Notice standing will have the next semester to improve their overall GPA to at or above a 2.00 and be updated to Good Academic standing.

Academic Recovery Standing Definition
- A students whose overall GPA stays below a 2.0 by the end of their semester on Academic Notice standing will be placed on Academic Recovery standing with the university during their next semester at 海角社区.
- During the next semester attended, students will have a registration encumbrance placed on their student account that will prevent registration or making changes to their class schedule.
- A student will be placed on Academic Recovery standing as long as their overall GPA is below a 2.00, but are making academic progress toward Good Academic standing.

Academic Suspension Standing Definition
- A student on Academic Recovery standing who is not making academic progress toward Good Academic standing (and meet the semester GPA guidelines) will be placed on Academic Suspension standing.
- Under Academic Suspension standing a student will not be eligible to register for three-consecutive semesters without appealing their academic standing.
- Students on Academic Suspension standing who plan to take classes during their next semester must submit and have their appeal approved.
